Senior Business Services Accountant

About the business and the role

Peter Vickers Business Group is a well-established Accounting and Financial Services Firm, with offices in Lindfield and Windsor. We offer a range of tailored financial solutions to our clients which means our team have an opportunity to undertake more complex tax and financial work.

We are currently looking for a Senior Business Services Accountant for our Windsor office. In this role you will manage a portfolio of A class clients on a range of compliance, business and advisory issues, manage and mentor a team of accountants and build, maintain and improve the existing relationships with our clients.

Job tasks and responsibilities

Business Advisory – Care for a portfolio of business client advising them on issues including:

  • Preparation of Business Plans
  • Assisting and advising clients before, during and after ATO audits
  • Income tax investigations
  • Preparation of ATO compliance reviews
  • Arranging suitable debt repayment programs for clients with taxation arrears
  • Evaluate client accounting systems and provide improvement recommendations if required

New Business – Develop new business through existing clients and potential new clients

  • Build a good rapport with all clients to the level that you can ascertain if there is any additional work or services that can be provided to the client
  • Handle new inquiries regarding new business
  • Liaise with Marketing Manager and Workflow Manager regarding new clients

Staff Management – Manage, mentor and coach a small team of accountants

Superannuation – Care for a portfolio of clients on a range of superannuation issues, including:

  • Setting up of Self Managed Superannuation Funds
  • Investment Reviews for Self Managed Superannuation Funds
  • Surcharges for Self Managed Superannuation Funds
  • Tax payment reminders for Self Managed Superannuation Funds
  • Year End Compliance for Self Managed Superannuation Funds

Accounting Function – Manage a portfolio of A class clients, preparing their accounts utilising systems such as:

  • Accounts preparation
  • Accounts Work papers
  • BAS Preparation
  • Budget Cash Flow Forecast
  • Attending to the requirements of Companies and Trusts
  • Preparation of Tax Management Plans
  • Manage a range of Personal Income Tax Return issues
  • Manage a range of Fringe Benefits Tax issues

Skills and experience

  • CA or CPA Qualified
  • Registered Tax Agent
  • 5+ years’ experience in Public Practice
  • The ability to work autonomously as well as within a team environment
  • Experience in handling all matters in connection with a portfolio of clients, which includes regular client communication and client visits
  • Experience in preparing financial statements and income tax returns for high net worth individuals, groups, companies, trusts and superannuation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good attention to detail and time management
  • SMSF Auditor and Financial advisor an advantage but not required
